Finding Mass and confession times just got a lot easier

The Archdiocese of Vancouver has just launched a handy online tool that’s like GPS for finding Mass and confession times.

Called Mass Finder, it went live during Holy Week and can be found at massfinder.rcav.org. The Archdiocese says the digital tool will make it easier for people to find Mass, confession times, and parishes anywhere in its boundaries.

The Mass Finder can search more than 800 Masses across 94 locations each week from Powell River, Gibsons, Squamish, and Bowen Island in the west to Hope in the east. It features filters for Masses in different languages including Malayalam, Vietnamese, Spanish, Latin, French, Mandarin, Laotian, Portuguese, Croatian, Cantonese, Italian, and Korean.

The Mass Finder also highlights the availability of 240 hours of confession every week, underscoring the commitment of the Archdiocese and its priests to making the sacrament of reconciliation accessible to as many people as possible.

Archdiocese of Vancouver Communications Director Matthew Furtado said the idea behind the Mass Finder is “to make the Church more open and available to everyone, no matter where they’re from or what language they speak. It’s part of our effort to use technology to reach out to more people and encourage them to participate in sacramental life.”

He highlighted how easy the Mass Finder will make it for Catholics to find confession times. “Often people want to find confession times that are flexible for their schedule or at a different parish than their own. All you need to do is type in your postal code, and it’ll show you a list of times near you. It’s easy for anyone to browse times, including weekdays.”

Archbishop J. Michael Miller said he’s looking forward to the new platform becoming an important resource for Catholics in the Archdiocese, saying it’s perfect for busy families, young people, newcomers, and visitors to the area.

“We want to make sure that anyone who’s looking for a place to worship can easily find their way to us, and the Mass Finder will help us welcome more people into our church community. The app makes it very simple for everyone to join us in celebration of the sacraments.”
